Christel is primarily a landscape painter whose main medium is oils. Originally from the Chicago region, she retired to Parke County with her husband Tom, after being in the medical field for over 30 years. Christel started on her artistic adventures after retirement and has taken on the challenge with gusto!
She was selected as a 2018 Hoosier Woman Artist by the Indiana Arts Commission and received a grant in 2019 for a public painting project done at Turkey Run State Park. Memberships include The Athens Arts Gallery, River City Art Association, Wabash Valley Art Guild, and IPAPA. She has received awards from the Vigo and Parke County Fairs, Best of Show at a National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Event and the Andy Warhol Award at the 2019 Danville Paint the Town Plein Air Event. Christel has been juried into various shows in the region, including those at Arts Illiana Gallery in Terre Haute, the Link Gallery in Paris, Illinois, The Gallery at Indiana State University in Kokomo, Rose-Hulman University and The Covered Bridge Gallery in nearby Rockville.
